An AEO audit checks whether an answer system can access a page, identify its subject, extract a useful response, and connect its claims to a credible source. It is a page-level diagnostic, not a promise that a particular engine will cite the URL for every prompt.

Validate JSON-LD with a schema parser and compare it with the visible page.
